“The breed standard approved by the American Boxer Club (ABC) calls for both cropped ears and docked tails. That’s why Boxers seen in the show ring in the United States have trimmed tails and ears. Even pet Boxers are often cropped and docked, because both breeders and puppy buyers in the United States expect Boxers to look a certain way. However, if you travel to England, you won’t find Boxers with cropped ears there–the practice was banned in that country several years ago. And if anti­ docking groups in the United Kingdom have their way, you soon will be hard pressed to find a Boxer with a docked tail. “ (more…)
